Highlights

Photographer and Production Manager for Hawgs Illustrated, the University Arkansas Razorback's Fan Magazine a publication of Hawgs Illustrated, Inc. since 1998.  Since 2004 the publication has been a part of Stephens Media where I also spend some of my time working for The Morning News of Northwest Arkansas as part of the photography staff.

Worked for the Associated Press Bureau in Little Rock, Ark., From the Summer of 1990 Till April 1, 1998, covering news in Northwest Arkansas and Razorback Sports.

Staff Photographer for the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette in the Fayetteville Bureau 1995-96 where I shot almost exclusively with a AP 2000e digital camera.

Arkansas High School Press Association's Photojournalist of the Year 1987 won the on-site newspaper photo contest.

University of Arkansas' Sports Information Photographer 1987-'90.

Worked with the HighKey Foundation - (Photojournalism II) at the University of Arkansas - one of the first programs to utilize the still video technology and digital darkroom techniques.

Member of the National Press Photographers Association. Active on NPPA on-line forums and Internet discussions. I am currently trying to help the University of Arkansas Student Chapter obtain a charter on campus.

Education and Training

Graduate of the University of Arkansas 1992--B.A. in Journalism, with emphasis in Magazine. Teaching assistant for the Journalism Department, Fall '90 to Spring '92. Received the Larry Obsintik Photojournalism Award two years in a row.

Ball State Journalism Workshop, Summer 1986--two weeks -- Received Excellence in Photojournalism Awards both weeks and nominated for internship with the workshop's paper.

Experience

AP Stringer--Coverage of news; including press conferences, sports, features and spot news. Helped in coverage of trips of President Bush and Clinton and the Clinton Presidential campaign and the White Water Investigation. Trained in the use of the LeafSystem Equipment.

Arkansas Democrat Gazette--Coverage of news, sports and features in NWA including using the AP's 2000e Digital Camera, Sprint 35 film scanner, and Macintosh Power book.

ALLSPORT Intern--learned how a sports photography stock agency works, and what its needs are. Maintaining and updating files, taking photo requests, filling photo requests, providing photo coverage of events, etc. Trained in the use of the Hasselblad Electronic Picture Desk System. (now part of Getty Images)

Sports Information Photographer--provided media relations services at the University of Arkansas, and photography for media guides, programs, posters, bowl programs, calendars, and pre- season Magazines.

Campus Activities--photography for university, Covering guest speakers, art shows, and concerts (Alabama, Reba McEntire, Pat Benatar, George Strait, etc.).

Business School--Photographer for guest speakers and dedications.

School of Law--Photographer for alumni relations and other publications.

The Northwest Arkansas Times--worked in composing department; typesetting, building ads, producing PMT's, paste up, ad tracking, etc. Experience with QuarkXPress and Mycro-Tek's Color Pre-Press Program.

Work has appeared in--Sports Illustrated, Newsweek, USA Today, The National, Track and Field News, The New York Times, The Dallas Morning News, The Atlanta Journal and Constitution, Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, Prevention Magazine, College Sports, Stars and Stripes, The Olympian, Discount Store News, Street and Smith's College Basketball and many others.

Preformed assignments for both Gamma Liaison and SYGMA.

I have several sets of strobe equipment for studio, location or arena lighting, along with a wide section of camera equipment with Nikon digital bodies including lenses ranging from 10.5 mm to 400mm.

I also have the ability to work with photos digitally with equipment on most platforms for various applications for imaging, layout and digital asset management.

I can make prints from digital files in-house up to  60-inch-wide prints. I have current computers for on location work and transmissions of images.

Hobbies and Interest: Water Skiing, Scuba Diving, Rock Climbing, Snow Skiing, and Technical Theater.
